Personal Accident Risk

 

Accidental Death of Insured Person

In the event of an accidental death of the insured person within 12 calendar months from the date of accident, the company provides Sum Insured as compensation to the nominee subject to the policy schedule.

Permanent Total Disablement

In the event of Permanent Total Disablement of the insured person due to an accident within 12 calendar months, the company provides compensation depending upon the degree of disablement.

Permanent Partial Disablement

In the event of Permanent Partial Disablement of the insured person following accidental injuries, the company provides a specific percentage of the Sum Insured depending upon the degree of disablement.

Accidental Hospitalisation Expenses

The medical expenses incurred by the insured person towards in-patient hospitalisation and day care treatments for injuries due to accidents during the period of travel are covered.

Emergency Hospitalisation Expenses (for Specified Illness)

The in-patient hospitalisation expenses incurred to treat sudden Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction) and/or Stroke (CVA) during the travel are covered.

Child Education Fund

In the event of accidental death or permanent total disability of the insured person, an educational grant for a maximum of two dependent children of the insured (who are under the age of 25 years) is provided, subject to the policy limits.

Emergency Medical Assistance

The Insured can contact the following numbers for emergency medical assistance information, including the nearest ambulance, hospital, blood bank, etc. Note: For assistance, call Star Health Insurance 24 hours helpline: 044 – 6900 6900 or toll-free no: 1800 425 2255.

Compassionate Visit

The transportation expenses for an immediate family member to travel to the hospital will be covered if the insured person’s medical condition forbids repatriation. In such events, the company will indemnify the incurred expenses up to the limits stated in the policy.

Emergency Medical Evacuation

The expenses incurred for an ambulance or any other emergency transportation and evacuation services are covered up to the specified limits.

Repatriation of Mortal Remains

The expenses incurred for the repatriation of the mortal remains of the insured person to the place of residence in the event of unfortunate death are covered.

Travel Related Risk

 

Personal Liability

The company will indemnify the Insured, up to the specific limits if the Insured in his/her private capacity shall become legally liable for bodily injury to any person or loss of or damage to property.

Missed Departure/Connecting flight

If the insured person misses the pre-booked departure or connection flight due to the specified reasons, then the company will pay the difference amount between the cost of original ticket and the refund amount received by the insured from the common carrier if any.

Trip Cancellation

If the insured person’s journey is canceled due to necessary and unavoidable situations, the company will indemnify the difference between the cost of original ticket and the refund amount received up to the specified limits.

Delay Of Checked-in Baggage(Applicable only for Air Travel)

If the checked-in baggage of the insured person is getting delayed for more than 6 hours during the trip, then the company will indemnify the insured, up to the specified limits in respect of the insured’s emergency purchase of toiletries, emergency medication and clothing.

Trip Curtailment

The additional expenses incurred for necessary curtailment (shortening and/or alternating) of the journey to return to the place where the journey started are covered.

Flight / Rail Delay

If the insured’s flight or train gets delayed for more than six hours, then the company will indemnify the expenses incurred for food, beverages and additional accommodation (which are not provided by airline/railway) up to the specified limits.

Flight/Common Carrier Cancellation

If the insured’s common carrier gets canceled 3 hours prior to the start of the trip, then the company shall indemnify the expenses incurred towards accommodation, food, emergency medicine, the difference between the cost of original ticket and new ticket booked.

Loss of Checked-in Baggage (Applicable only for Air Travel)

If the insured’s checked-in baggage is permanently lost by the air carrier, then the company provides lump sum as compensation. Once the lost checked-in baggage is traced and delivered to the insured, the insured should return the entire amount paid.

Convalescence Benefit

If the insured is hospitalised for more than 5 consecutive days, the company will provide lump sum as stated in the policy. Note: This benefit is admissible only if there is a valid claim under Accidental Hospitalisation Expenses (section 4) and/or Emergency Hospitalisation Expenses (section 5).

Adventure Sports

In the event of accidental death / permanent total disability and repatriation of mortal remains of the insured due to engaging in adventure sports, the company will pay the amount as specified in the policy schedule.
